Throughout the peak growing season, from May through October each year, our team works with five farms in the region to schedule special gleanings where volunteers help us pick fresh produce that the farmers could otherwise not harvest or sell. DCCK will use these ingredients to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to community partners throughout DC. It’s a win-win for everyone — we support local farms, help prevent food waste, and get a great workout while we’re at it!
No experience is required — it’s the perfect volunteer experience for gardeners, families, and people who love to get outside and get dirty!
Our first gleaning trip of the season is Tuesday, May 21st at the Franciscan Monastery on Quincy Street in Northeast DC. Interested in joining? Sign up for your spot today!
