Our indoor volunteer activities continue to be suspended due to COVID-19. We invite you to join us on the farm for a safe, socially distanced, and meaningful volunteer experience.
Join DC Central Kitchen in supporting local farms and helping prevent food waste! From June to October, volunteers will meet us at local farms to pick fresh produce that they could otherwise not harvest or sell. DCCK will use these ingredients to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to community partners throughout DC. No experience is required!

Volunteers must be 12 years of age of older and are required to provide their own transportation to and from gleaning events.
DCCK is committed to a safe, fun volunteer gleaning experience and supporting the policies of our local partner farms. Safety protocols are subject to change to meet the requirements of each farm and reflect current guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state health requirements relevant to the farm location. These conditions will be communicated to volunteers in advance of gleaning events.
Please practice social distancing throughout volunteer gleaning, staying at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from other people who are not from your household in both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Out of an abundance of caution, masks are required of all volunteers and staff throughout volunteer gleaning regardless of vaccination status.
Inclement Weather Policy
DCCK will monitor forecasts and contact volunteers if any plans change due to weather. We have gleaned in light rain but typically cancel gleans if heavy rain or lightening for safety and to avoid crop damage.
