>Moving Right Along

DC Central Kitchen presents our latest annual report. We’re here to share what we have accomplished together and what we are committed to take on with your support in the years to come.

DC Central Kitchen gleanings support local farms and help prevent food waste! Through October, volunteers will meet us at local farms to pick fresh produce that they could otherwise not harvest or sell. DCCK will use these ingredients to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to community partners throughout DC. No experience is required!

Interested in joining? Email us at gleaning@dccentralkitchen.org for the full calendar of events and to check availability.

Volunteer Guidelines

Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older and are required to provide their own transportation to and from gleaning events.

Volunteers are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and proof of vaccination must be submitted when registering to volunteer.

DCCK is committed to a safe, fun volunteer gleaning experience and supporting the policies of our local partner farms. Safety protocols are subject to change to meet the requirements of each farm, DC Central Kitchen and local policy. Any changes will be communicated to volunteers in advance of gleaning events.

Inclement Weather Policy

DCCK will monitor forecasts and contact volunteers if any plans change due to weather. We have gleaned in light rain but typically cancel gleans if heavy rain or lightning for safety and to avoid crop damage.
