We are excited to announce that NBA star Trae Young of the Washington Wizards has made an incredible $50,000 donation to DC Central Kitchen’s fight against hunger and poverty in DC. This gift is part of a larger philanthropic commitment to his new city, as the Trae Young Family Foundation also donated $50,000 to the DC College Access Program (DC CAP) on the same day.

“Ever since arriving in DC, I have felt nothing but love,” said Trae Young in the press release. “Washington, DC, is a big market with great people, and I want to invest in this community the same way the community has invested in me from day 1. DC CAP and DC Central Kitchen are doing great work to serve others. This is just the start, and I’m excited to keep building with both organizations.”

“This gift is a powerful testament to the way Trae Young has embraced the DC community and prioritized philanthropy throughout his career,” said Mike Curtin Jr., CEO of DC Central Kitchen. “DC Central Kitchen is thrilled to be partnering with the Trae Young Family Foundation to combat hunger and create opportunities for our neighbors to rise and reach their full potential.”

This gift is another example of our long-term, layered partnership with the Washington Wizards, Mystics, and Capitals, as well as the entire Monumental Sports & Entertainment family. In addition to engaging players, coaches, and fans in meaningful community action, we welcome Monumental volunteers to DCCK every single month.
