Local artist Marcella Kriebel has featured DC Central Kitchen in her annual calendar! Marcella creates a calendar each year to raise awareness and funds for a select non-profit organization, and we have been selected as the 2023 recipients with 100% of the proceeds benefiting our mission to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities.
The 2023 calendar also features our founder Robert Egger’s famous words; “In our Kitchen all Food Has Power and all People have potential.” Marcella chose to spotlight Robert’s quote to celebrate his vision of empowering members of our community through job training, job creation, and reliable access to healthy food.
Since our formation in 1989, DC Central Kitchen has expanded Robert’s vision for addressing the root causes of hunger and food insecurity by using food as a tool for real change. We have graduated over 2,000 Culinary Job Training graduates, produced and distributed over 43 million meals, and prevented 32 million pounds of food waste.
