Healthy School Food in the Community Over DCPS February Break

DC Public Schools teachers, staff, and students took a much-deserved vacation last week for their February Break, but our Healthy School Food team went into high gear. To keep our students fed even while school cafeterias were closed, DC Central Kitchen’s new mobile meals truck loaded up bags of nutritious lunches and hit the road, making stops at 11 schools over 4 days. Sponsored by craigstable, our mobile meal truck served 422 fresh meals to our students and their families, including some of our favorite scratch-cooked meals, like Mediterranean chicken wraps with cucumber salads and egg salad sandwiches with broccoli florets.

Our team will be back in the community with more fresh meals whenever DCPS is out, including next month during the scheduled teacher workdays on March 10th & 11th, as well as spring break in April!
