Past DCCK volunteers glean the Dupont FRESHFARM market.
Looking for a fun Sunday outing? Stop by the FRESHFARM market at Dupont Circle on Sunday mornings for fresh, local produce, and a chance to give back this holiday season. To help get nutritious food onto the tables of our neighbors, DCCK is partnering with FRESHFARM on its Fresh Food Drive at Dupont Farmers Market ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Throughout the month of November, FRESHFARM is raising money from farmers market shoppers and community members which DC Central Kitchen will then spend directly with the market’s local farmers and growers to purchase additional fresh fruits, vegetables, and proteins for our Thanksgiving baskets and meals.
Donations can be made onsite at the Dupont Farmers Market on Sundays (November 14th & 21st) or online.
“FRESHFARM has been partnering with DC Central Kitchen for many years now, and we are thrilled to partner with them again on the Fresh Food Drive. DCCK is doing transformative work to uplift every aspect of our local food system, from sourcing ingredients from local farms, to providing culinary job training, creating access to nutritious food through their Healthy Corners and Healthy Schools programs, and providing nutritious meals to the community,” says Pierre Grahn, FRESHFARM’s Market Operations Manager.
If you’re interested in learning more about how DC Central Kitchen uses food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities, make sure to join us at Dupont Farmers Market on Sunday, November 21st during regular market hours!
