The gift of a job
DC Central Kitchen needs your support to combat hunger and poverty in Washington, DC.
Nearly one fifth of DC residents – 115,000 men, women, and children – live in poverty. And close to half of all children who grow up in poverty will live in poverty as adults.
Those are staggering numbers, and we need to take action to break the destructive, intergenerational cycle of poverty. You can help.
You can make a difference by giving the gift of a good job. Our Culinary Job Training program combines professional kitchen skills training with a powerful self-empowerment curriculum that prepares unemployed and at-risk adults to not only get a good job, but change their lives.
With your support, DC Central Kitchen has offered a pathway out of poverty for 1,500 men and women over the last 20 years. Of our 96 job training graduates in 2014, 93% of them found jobs. Your gift today can provide men and women the chance they need to regain economic self-sufficiency and stability for themselves and their families.
