WalMart replaces Inaugural Glam with an Inaugural Gift of $150,000 to DC Central Kitchen

Jan 12- As Walmart finished the busy holiday shopping season, they were keenly aware that some of their neighbors probably needed more help during these tough financial times. In lieu of donating large sums of money to a fancy Inaugural Ball, the team at Walmart - DC decide to donate to 2 organizations that they believe support the community in a profound way. DC Central Kitchen and Covenant House both received a gift of $150,000 each to support their mission.

"As I volunteered at the kitchen and met the staff and students, I knew that this was a place that changed lives" , said Ray Bracy - Senior VP.

DC Central Kitchen will be seeing more of the staff at Walmart, as they continue to schedule more volunteer sessions for 2009, and continue to help DCCK "Feed the Soul of the City"
