Volunteers Participate in MLK Day of Service at DC Central Kitchen

On Monday, the staff of DC Central Kitchen was joined by a group of volunteers who answered the call to service issued by incoming President Barack Obama to honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The volunteers played an integral part in producing thousands of meals that were shipped out to about 100 agencies in the DC area.

The volunteers were also featured on the front page of the New York Times on Tuesday and in the politics section of the Times website, as President Obama had planned to visit the Kitchen, but was unable.
